RECOGNITION AND EQUIVALENCE OF DIPLOMAS AND QUALIFICATIONS

If you hold a diploma or certificate of studies obtained abroad and wish to continue your studies or work in the Republic of Moldova, the document must be recognised and, where applicable, recognised as equivalent by the competent authorities.

WHAT DOES RECOGNITION AND EQUIVALENCE MEAN?

RECOGNITION

The acceptance of the academic document issued by an accredited educational institution in the country of origin as authentic and with a recognised validity.

EQUIVALENCE

An assessment of the holder’s curriculum and its compatibility with the national education system, in terms of the competences acquired.

Recognition may be:

  1. Academic – allows access to the next level of study in the Republic of Moldova
  2. Professional – allows access to and employment in the labour market in accordance with the qualification held

Outcome of the process:

Upon completion of the procedure, a Certificate of Recognition and Equivalence is issued – an official document issued by the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova.

WHAT IS THE ASSESSMENT BASED ON?

The academic document is analysed by comparison with the national education system, considering:

  1. The type of study programme/vocational training
  2. The number of transferable credits (ECTS system or equivalent)
  3. The content of the study/vocational training programme
  4. Professional qualification – as per the Diploma Supplement or Certificate of Qualification

RESPONSIBLE AUTHORITIES:

Ministry of Education and Research

Formulates, promotes and develops policies in the field of authentication, recognition and equivalence of academic documents and qualifications.

The National Qualifications Framework Directorate within the Ministry of Education and Research

Establishes and updates the regulatory framework for the authentication, equivalence and recognition of academic documents, in accordance with national and international requirements. Monitors the entire process.

Centre for Information and Communication Technologies in Education (CTICE)

This is where the application file containing academic documents is submitted for recognition, equivalence and authentication (except for the recognition of periods of study for the purpose of continuing studies within the national education system).

HOW CAN THE FILE BE SUBMITTED?

    Prepare the file containing your academic documents (original diploma/certificate and certified translations, where applicable)
  3. 3
    Submit your application in person at the CTICE office or send it by post.
IMPORTANT Academic documents may ONLY be submitted following an online booking. Without a booking, the application cannot be submitted.
