The following categories of European Union citizens and their family members may enter and reside legally in the Republic of Moldova, under the conditions provided by law:

1. EU Citizens
2. Schengen Area states citizens
3. Their family members

1. You hold a valid travel document, issued within the last 10 years by the authorities of an EU Member State
2. You do not pose a risk to security, public order or public health
3. You are not subject to an entry ban into the territory of Moldova

1. Hold a travel document, issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least a further three months from the date of entry into the territory of Moldova
2. Does not pose a threat to national security
3. Are not subject to an entry ban into Moldova
4. Or, where applicable:

   A valid visa or residence permit issued by a Member State of the European Union or by a signatory state to the Schengen Agreement (the visa is issued upon request, in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, without the collection of consular fees) Residence card issued by the competent authorities of the Republic of Moldova Or accompanying an European Union citizen at the time of entry

1. European Union citizens obtain the residence card within 3 days
2. Their family members obtain the temporary residence permit within 30 days and the residence card within 3 days

For EU citizens:

1. Application form (to be submitted directly at the counter of the General Inspectorate for Migration)
2. Valid travel document
3. Declaration of no criminal record (to be submitted directly at the counter of the General Inspectorate for Migration)
4. Civil status documents confirming the existence of the marriage (if applicable)
5. Document certifying the right of ownership or use of a dwelling on the territory of the Republic of Moldova

For family members of EU citizens:

1. Application form
2. Valid travel document
3. Visa or residence permit (where applicable) issued by a Member State of the European Union or a signatory state to the Schengen Agreement
4. A copy of the residence card confirming the residence of the family member of an EU citizen on the territory of the Republic of Moldova
5. Document certifying the right of ownership or use of a dwelling on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, in the manner established by the Government
6. Civil status documents confirming the family relationship, or contracts and other evidence relating to dependency in the case of extended family members, translated into Romanian or English and legalised or apostilled (unless international treaties to which the Republic of Moldova is a party provide otherwise)
7. A criminal record certificate, translated into Romanian or English, issued within the last six months by the authorities of the country of origin, legalised or apostilled (unless international treaties to which the Republic of Moldova is a party provide otherwise)

For permanent residence of EU citizens:

1. Application form for the right of permanent residence (to be submitted online or at the General Inspectorate for Migration)
2. Valid travel document
3. Declaration on one’s own responsibility regarding the absence of a criminal record
4. Document certifying the right of ownership or use of a dwelling on the territory of the Republic of Moldova
5. Proof of valid medical insurance within the territory of the Republic of Moldova

1. Equal treatment and the same rights and freedoms as citizens of the Republic of Moldova, guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova and other laws, as well as the rights provided for in international treaties to which the Republic of Moldova is a party, subject to the established exceptions
2. The right to family life, to marriage and to divorce, in accordance with the provisions of the Family Code
3. The right to work (for up to 90 days during any 180-day period without a residence permit or residence card)

1. They cannot vote or stand for election
2. They cannot be members of political parties or socio-political organisations registered in the Republic of Moldova
3. They cannot perform military service in the armed forces of the Republic of Moldova

During their stay in the Republic of Moldova, European Union citizens and their family members must:

1. Comply with the laws of the Republic of Moldova
2. Apply for a residence card, as a citizen of the European Union, if they intend to remain in the territory of the Republic of Moldova for a period exceeding 90 days or, in the case of their family members, for the right of residence and a residence card
3. Notify the General Inspectorate for Migration within 15 days if:

   They change their domicile or temporary residence – present the document certifying the right of ownership or use of the dwelling on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, in the manner established by the Government You change your travel documents in the event of their loss, theft or damage, as well as in the event of any change in your civil status or personal details, particularly a change of surname, first name or nationality, or the conclusion/dissolution of a marriage – you must submit the relevant supporting documents

2. Prepare a complete application
3. Check the validity of the documents
4. Submit your application at least 30 days before your current residence permit expires
5. Check your email and phone regularly
